What we're going to do together

in this course is take your from kind of knowing what each tool does in Alchemy. To being a synth master of Alchemy. An by extension many other synthesis tools.

By the end of this course you will be able to understand fully what each tool does

in Logic Pro X Alchemy. And when and why to use each tool.

You will be able to take your own music to a level where its ready for commercial release, And even rent out your new skill set for client work as well.

In Alchemy Synthesis Masterclass in Logic Pro X we cover

  • Synthesis Basics

  • Filters

  • Programming tools for Synthesis

  • Modulation controls

  • Additive, Granular, Subtractive synthesis techniques

  • Advanced synth controls

  • Sampling with synthesis

  • Useful sound design techniques

Example Videos

Below are two example video, To ensure this is a style of teaching that works for you

Alchemy GUI

interface (GUI). Its main window consists of several sections:

  1. Browser: Located on the left side, it allows users to browse and select presets, samples, and sources for synthesis.

  2. Source View: Found in the top-middle part, this section displays the selected source waveform or sample. It provides controls for editing and manipulating the waveform/sample.

  3. Modifiers and Effects: Positioned on the right-hand side, this area contains various tabs for modulation, effects, and filters. It allows users to shape and transform the sound using different modulation sources, effects, and filters.

  4. Performance Controls: Located at the bottom, this section offers controls for performance-related features like the XY pad, arpeggiator, and various performance parameters. It enables real-time manipulation and modulation of sound.

  5. Global Controls: Typically found at the top of the window, these controls include settings for overall tuning, volume, panning, and other global parameters affecting the entire sound.

Alchemy's GUI is designed for intuitive navigation and comprehensive control over sound synthesis, making it a versatile tool for creating a wide range of sounds and textures within Logic Pro.

FM Filter Sound Source

Filter FM feedback, Filter Feedback: In some synthesizers, filters can have a feedback parameter that allows a portion of the filtered output to be fed back into the input of the filter. This creates resonance, emphasizing certain frequencies and potentially leading to self-oscillation.

  1. Self-Oscillation: When the feedback is set high enough, the filter can start to self-oscillate, generating a sine wave or other tonal content based on the characteristics of the filter. This self-oscillation is somewhat similar to the behavior of an oscillator in traditional synthesis.

  2. Modulation and Complexity: By using this feedback in conjunction with other modulation sources or parameters, you can create complex and evolving sounds. The feedback loop essentially allows the filter to modulate itself, adding richness and character to the sound.

It's important to note that the specifics of filter feedback and its sonic results can vary between synthesizers and filter designs. This feature is often found in more advanced or modular synthesizers that provide detailed control over filter parameters.
