How to be successful as an artist

Let’s start with just the one Perspective.

Perspective, what’s your view of what it is to be a successful artist?

I know it’s a touch philosophical, bare with me.

My point is what would be amazing for you isn’t always the definition of what someone else would decide is success.

Many look for fame or the platinum record on the wall. Because that’s what they think is the goal. An that’s fine if that is your goal now execute on doing that thing.

breakdown the steps to the path of the objectives. If you want the platinum on the wall, how are YOU going to get it?

as the artist? The producer?  the guy who edits the vocals in the studio?

theres a Grammy for that you know.

You have to decide what it is to you not what you see for someone else.

So for me it was to be able to function as an indie artist, but that has evolved as I achieved that an now I’m building a business

I’ve gone passed the original aim and the goal evolved, but with the gift of hindsight I can see this was really what I always wanted to build. Just I’ve stumbled through the journey.

What I wish I’d done was really thought about where I wanted to take everything.

Then I would have done this.

 - Cut away ANYTHING that didn’t forward that goal.

- started making the right connections far sooner.

 - practiced just the most important skills not a bit of everything.

- started learning about business operations sooner.
